'Tis the Season

Park City in the snow

Dear Friends,

The first snow has long since covered the mountains here in Jackson, and, after a busy summer and fall season, this seems to be a perfect time to stop and reflect on the year that has passed and the season ahead. I can’t think of a better way to start this holiday season than by saying how grateful I am for the encouragement and support.

Many of you have come into the store this year, and I have so enjoyed meeting each one of you for the first time, and seeing many of you again. I am humbled by the trust you place in my team and me to provide beautiful pearl designs that will be a part of your family story. Here at Pearls by Shari, I have the joy of not only discovering the rare pearls that go into my designs, but also being able to share the parallel of the life of an oyster with our lives.

Pearls represent all the qualities we value, and therefore, want to commemorate: integrity, honesty, virtue and timelessness. Always appropriate for any occasion, pearls are the perfect gem for making us feel cherished. But the pearl’s story did not begin with beauty, but with pain and sacrifice. You see a pearl is the result of an irritant that causes the oyster pain and suffering over a long period of time. Not only does the oyster have to put up with the pain, but also the oyster has to sacrifice its own health at times. Like the oyster, we too have had times in life where we have experienced pain and suffering, times of disappointment or failure. Those seasons of life are not futile. Beauty can come from the ashes of our lives. Just as, ultimately, the oyster’s pain and suffering produces a gem: the pearl. No two alike. All beautiful. All unique.

So during this holiday season, I want you to know that you are beautiful, and unique. You are one of a kind, and I am so thankful for you! As you go through out your holiday season, remember you’re valued and loved, but don’t stop there. Take a moment, not just to give a gift, but to help someone else remember that they, too, are unique and loved. It’s a gift you can’t buy, and you can’t put a price on. You give because you can.

As the year closes and the next begins, dwell in thanks and giving this holiday season, and may your days be met with joy.

Blessings,

Shari
